The Government Quarter (RKV) was severely damaged in the 2011 (July 22) terror attack. Plans for

rebuilding RKV has been highly debated but demolition and construction are now well in progress. We will

visit the temporary July 22 Memorial, see plans for the future urban landscape and get the opportunity to
 +

see and discuss temporary and permanent security measures established after the terror attack.

The project give insight into planning large new public buildings in a dense, existing urban fabric, and

handling the consequences of terror in new public areas.

The walk will further bring us through the central urban heart of Oslo with national institutions and urban

landscapes of high symbolic value. We will pass Stortinget (Parlament), Karl Johan Street, Spikersuppa,

Slottet, Nationaltheatret, Rådhuset (Oslo City Hall).

We will continue to the construction site of the New National Museum that will open in 2020. At

Mellomstasjonen visitor center we will get a better understanding of how the largest art museum in

 +
Northern Europe will impact its neighborhood. A guided tour with helmets will bring us into the building site
 +
 +
and a pre-view of central attractions like the New Museum Plaza, Light Hall, Munch Room and the great
 +
 +
fjord view from the Museum Roof Terrace.
